Shadows and Echoes
There's already been talk in the media about it not being a "cause for celebration" and that the war, particularly in Afghanistan, "wasn't won militarily". Well, we've got brothers and sisters coming home who are, or will be, asking this question. They're gonna need our help and we, every one of us, have got to be ready to give it. It may be that those best suited to do this and help them over the hump are the men and women who have already been through the same thing. I'm talking directly to our Vietnam veterans now; you KNOW the kinds of things they are going to be thinking and feeling, you KNOW the kinds of questions they are going to ask themselves. Please, I'm begging you, step up and help your younger brothers and sisters navigate this mine field (or mind field) so that they don't have to suffer the pain and doubt and even shame that you suffered for decades, that you may still be suffering. USE your experiences to help heal them. It may even help you heal too. We've got to get out in front of this before we lose more brothers and sisters to the meat grinder. ~ Bedlam
